Split System Course Purpose
The UEE20120 – Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems is a training course for electricians and 3rd and 4th year electrical apprentices looking to up skill and expand their formal qualifications.
As a leading RTO, Get Skilled Training offers recognised air conditioning courses Brisbane and Queensland wide that comply with current Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) licencing requirements.
This course satisfies the requirements for workers to apply for a Refrigerant Handling Licence with the Australian Refrigeration Council.
The Brisbane air conditioning course includes training that can be applied to wall hung, floor and ceiling suspended, cassette and ducted fan coil systems and water heating heat pump systems.
Please note that this training does not include competencies required for service, repair, maintenance, diagnostic/fault finding and electrical work, or the safe and proper installation of commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump plant and equipment.

Course Prerequisites
To be able to undertake the UEE20120 – Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems course, you must satisfy one of the following prerequisites:
- For Electricians – Current Electrical Work Licence
- For 3rd or 4th year Electrical Apprentices – Who have Successful completion of the required units of competency outlined in the first year of an electrotechnology apprenticeship, and have at least two years of industry experience.
- Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is offered to non-electrical workers who wish to undertake this course who have a trade qualification in the following trades:
– Plumbers
– Gas fitters
- Trade Assistants currently working full-time for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning companies (for a minimum period of 6-18 months) may also be eligible to complete this qualification with recognition of prior learning (RPL).

Course Outcome & Career Pathways
Air Con Course Outcome
Successful completion of the air conditioning course in Brisbane or at any one of our other training locations across Queensland will satisfy the requirements of the Restricted Split System Air Conditioning Installation and Decommissioning Licence.
This will allow you to install and decommission split system air conditioners under 18kW including wall hung, ducted, floor and ceiling mounted units.
If you obtain your refrigerant handling licence, you will be open to further study opportunities. See below for more details.
Career Pathways
On completion of the split system air conditioning course at one of our delivery locations, you may undertake further studies to gain additional qualifications.
