Who Can Enrol in the Hydrocarbon Refrigeration Course?

This course is offered to qualified refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics who hold a current unrestricted ARC licence and are looking to work with hydrocarbon refrigerants.

On successful course completion, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:
  • UEECD0007 – Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace.
  • UEERA0007 – Apply safety awareness and legal requirements for flammable refrigerants.
  • UEERA0084 – Service and repair self-contained flammable refrigerants air conditioning and refrigeration system. 
Depending on the licence you have with the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) your Statement of Attainment will also include one of the following units of competency:
  • UEERA0053 – Install, commission, service and maintain medium temperature system. (If you hold a current RAC01 licence with ARC)
  • UEERA0089 – Service refrigeration appliances.  (If you hold a current RDR04 licence with ARC)
With these units of competency and a performance evidence form signed by one of our trainers, you will be qualified to work with hydrocarbon refrigerants.

Funding Available

Funding is available to eligible South Australia residents through the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). 

To receive CITB subsidised training, eligible student are required to supply their valid CITB number to Get Skilled Training at enrolment which allows us to confirm your eligibility prior to your air conditioning course commencement.

Course Information

Hydrocarbon Refrigerant Course Purpose

The course will allow you to service and repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment containing A3 hydrocarbon refrigerant.

Course Prerequisites

To take this course, you must at least have both of the following:

  • One of the below refrigerant handling licences with ARC:
    • RAC01 – Refrigerant handling licence – qualified persons (Full refrigeration and air conditioning licence: 2 & 3 years)
    • RDR04 – Refrigerant handling licence – qualified persons (Restricted domestic refrigeration and air conditioning appliances licence: 2 & 3 years)
  • A current restricted electrical licence. 

Course Duration

The practical course is delivered over 1.5 days with an estimated 8 hours required to complete the online theory assessment. Each student is given 3 months to complete this course. 

Adelaide Course Cost

The course cost is $895 however, this may increase if additional face to face training and assessment is required.

 Get Skilled training currently has funding allocations for the following units within this qualification:

The total rebate for this course (Service ID 1494) is $660.

Please note: You must complete the course before Get Skilled Training can process a claim with CITB. Students must provide their bank details to have the subsidy reimbursed which will be paid within 5 business days of Get Skilled Training receiving the CITB subsidy. It may take 2 weeks for CITB to approve the funding rebate after Get Skilled Training has submitted the claim (please allow 3 to 4 weeks after completion of your course to receive the rebate).

Apprentices within the first 24 months of their apprenticeship will not be eligible for funding as referenced in the CITB apprentice toolkit booklet. The subsidy cannot be provided for units of competency that Credit Transfer is granted for.

Please note: An RPL/Credit transfer may be granted for UEECD0007 – Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace for those holding the appropriate licence or statement of attainment with this unit issued by another provider. Additional RPL may be granted for the UEERA0053 – Install, commission, service and maintain medium temperature systems or UEERA0089 – Service refrigeration appliances depending on the licence (RAC01 or RDR04) the student holds with ARC. It is a prerequisite to have the UEECD0007 and either of the UEERA0053 and UEERA0089 units of competency for this course. Students must submit a copy of their ARC Refrigerant Handling Licence (RAC01 or RDR04) for the RPL to be granted.
