Full course fees vary depending on the units of competency included on your electrical training permit. You can find detailed prices for your trade below.
Students are required to complete UEECD0007 before other units of competency. Additionally, UEERL0001 is a prerequisite to undertake UEERL0002.
Students are required to hold an electrical work training permit. Visit the Electrical Safety Office to obtain your permit or complete it during pre-enrolment.
Our restricted electrical licence course takes 2-5 days to complete practical training, including approximately 6-20 hours of online theory component.
Courses are delivered in-person at a Get Skilled training centre or at your workplace. Theory components are delivered through our online student portal.
Restricted electrical licence course can be completed online from your home or workplace. Practical training and assessment is delivered at Get Skilled’s Salisbury location.
Students need access to a computer, tablet or smartphone, and an internet connection. All other equipment is supplied by Get Skilled as part of your restricted electrical course fee.
Who is Eligible for a Restricted Electrical Licence Courses?
Undertaking a restricted electrical licence course is a great way to expand your current skill set and build your career. These courses are open to a broad range of skilled trades that need to perform some electrical work as part of your regular trade.
To be eligible for a restricted electrical licence, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Current trade qualification of Certificate III or higher in the following trades:
- Electrical equipment service person
- Fitter and turner
- Gas Fitter
- Instrumentation/process control technician
- Laboratory and scientific electrical equipment technician
- Mechanical fitter
- Plumber and drainer
- Refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment service person
- Telecommunication technician, OR
- 3 years’ experience in a role that requires you to perform incidental electrical work, OR
- Hold an overseas qualification that is recognised by Trade Recognition Australia

Who is this course targeted at?
This restricted electrical course is offered to eligible tradespersons that are required to undertake restricted electrical works disconnecting, reconnecting, locating and repairing faults on electrical equipment in line with their trade.

Restricted Electrical Course Outcomes
After successfully completing all training and assessment, Get Skilled Training will send a completion statement to the ESO. We will also email you a copy of your statement of attainment for the units of competency that were achieved as part of your restricted electrical licence training course.
Your statement of attainment will allow you to apply for your Restricted Electrical Work Licence (REL) with the ESO and allow you to commence incidental electrical work within the scope of your trade.
Get Skilled Training offers a restricted electrical licence course that includes nationally-recognised units of competency. Your training may include:
- UEECD0007 – Apply Work Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
- UEERL0001 – Attach cords and plugs to electrical equipment for connection to a single 230 Volt supply
- UEERL0002 – Attach cords, cables and plugs to electrical equipment for connection to 1000V a.c. or 1500V d.c. supply
- UEERL0004 – Disconnect – reconnect electrical equipment connected to low voltage (LV) installation wiring
- UEERL0005 – Locate and rectify faults in low voltage (LV) electrical equipment using set procedures
Note: A logbook may be required as part of this course for UEERL0004 – Disconnect – reconnect electrical equipment connected to low voltage (LV) installation wiring. This will be determined by your assessor and is based on whether practical training is required by the student and the volume of learning requirements.
You are only allowed to undertake the units of competency outlined in your Electrical Safety Office (ESO) training permit. You may only undertake competencies that are required within the normal scope of your work, such as connecting and disconnecting cables, attaching plugs and fault finding appliances related to your trade calling.
You cannot undertake units of competency that fall outside the scope of your trade calling if they are not on your training permit.
Note: Restricted electrical licence course Students must have completed CPR training within 12 months of your application to the Electrical Safety Office (ESO) in QLD. Get Skilled offers the following units to undertake low voltage rescue and performing CPR:
- HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- UETDRMP007 – Perform rescue from a live LV panel
Students may also undertake an additional unit of competency as part of this training program if they are required to test and tag equipment within their workplace:
- UEERL0003 – Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies (Test and Tag)
Our restricted electrical licence course is delivered at locations throughout Brisbane. We use a mix of online and face-to-face training and assessment. It takes approximately 2-5 days to complete your practical training and assessment for the restricted electrical licence course, including 6-20 hours of online theory (depending on the units of competency you need to obtain).
Once you have completed all restricted electrical course components, Get Skilled Training will issue a Statement of Attainment for your records, and a Form 39 Completion Statement to the Electrical Safety Office. This will allow you to apply for your restricted electrical licence.
Note that all students are required to hold a current training permit issued by the ESO. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks to obtain a permit, and your permit is valid for 12 months. You should aim to complete your training within that 12 month period. Students are permitted to begin the online theory components for the occupational health and safety unit of the course while waiting for a training permit to be issued.

Appliance Servicing and Repair Technicians who are required to undertake incidental electrical work within the scope of their trade for work with electrical appliances may be eligible to undertake this restricted electrical licence course and up-skill with Get Skilled Training.
This can be achieved by competing one of Get Skilled Training restricted electrical licencing training programs skillsets which are tailored to meet your trade requirements.
All courses require students to complete a mandatory occupational health and safety unit of competency UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace. Students may be eligible for Recognition of prior learning (RPL) for this unit.
The eligibility requirements for Appliance Servicing and Repair Technicians to complete a restricted electrical course are below:
- Training Permit with Electrical Safety Office QLD (ESO) – Required before to undertaking practical course
- Employer Support Letter – Required (Statutory declaration if self-employed)

Workers who require a restricted electrical licence to undertake incidental electrical work within the scope of their work with specific electrical equipment may be eligible to undertake this restricted electrical licence course and up-skill with Get Skilled Training if they have 3 years of experience in servicing and repairing equipment.
This can be achieved by competing one of Get Skilled Training restricted electrical licencing training programs skillsets which are tailored to meet your trade requirements.

Electronic Technicians who are required to undertake incidental electrical work within the scope of their work within medical, biomedical, electronics, communications, business equipment, data and voice communications may be eligible to undertake this restricted electrical licence course and up-skill with Get Skilled Training.
This can be achieved by completing one of Get Skilled Training restricted electrical licencing training programs skill sets which are tailored to meet your trade requirements.
All courses require students to complete a mandatory occupational health and safety unit of competency UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace. Students may be eligible for Recognition of prior learning (RPL) for this unit.
The eligibility requirements for Electronic Technicians to complete a restricted electrical course are below:

Fire protection and control technicians who are required to undertake incidental electrical work within the scope of their trade for work with fire alarm systems may be eligible to undertake this restricted electrical licence course and up-skill with Get Skilled Training.
This can be achieved by completing one of Get Skilled Training restricted electrical licencing training programs skill sets which are tailored to meet your trade requirements for work in fire protection and control.
All courses require students to complete a mandatory occupational health and safety unit of competency UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace. Students may be eligible for Recognition of prior learning (RPL) for this unit.
The eligibility requirements for Fire Protection and Control Technicians to complete a restricted electrical course are below:

Instrument fitters who are required to undertake incidental electrical work within the scope of their trade for work with instrumentation and process equipment may be eligible to undertake this restricted electrical licence course and up-skill with Get Skilled Training.
This can be achieved by completing one of Get Skilled Training restricted electrical licencing training programs skill sets which are tailored to meet your trade requirements.
All courses require students to complete a mandatory occupational health and safety unit of competency UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace. Students may be eligible for Recognition of prior learning (RPL) for this unit.
The eligibility requirements for Instrument Fitters to complete a restricted electrical course are below:
- Training Permit with Electrical Safety Office QLD (ESO) – Required before to undertaking practical course
