Test and Tag Course Sunshine Coast UEERL0003
Our test and tag course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform safe and effective testing and tagging of electrical equipment inline with the QLD regulations. This course covers a range of topics including hazard identification, risk assessment, safe work practices, and testing and tagging procedures. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to identify common electrical hazards, assess risks associated with electrical equipment and apply safe work practices when testing and tagging electrical portable appliances.
Test and Tag Course Sunshine Coast Outcomes
Nationally Accredited Course: UEERL0003 & UEECD0007
The UEERL0003 test and tag course is a short course that covers the basics of electrical safety testing and tagging. This course is designed for those who work with or around electrical equipment, as well as those who are responsible for maintaining electrical safety in a workplace. The course covers the different types of tests and tags that are used to ensure appliances are tagged correctly for electrical safety, as well as the different requirements for each type of test and tag.
The course also covers the importance of electrical safety and how to prevent accidents and injuries associated with electrical equipment hazards and their associated risks. This test and tag course is a great way to learn the basics of electrical safety and how to keep yourself and others safe when working with portable appliances.
Co-requisite Course – Apply Work Health and Safety Regulations, Codes and Practices in the Workplace UEEDCD0007
The UEEDCD0007 Apply Work Health and Safety Regulations, Codes and Practices in the Workplace course is meant to provide students with the necessary skills needed to apply work health and safety regulations, codes, and practices appropriately in any workplace. A variety of topics are covered so that students gain a well-rounded understanding of how best to identify hazards and assess risks, communicate information on WHS effectively, report incidents properly, and play their part in controlling hazards.
Who Should Take the UEERL0003 Test and Tag Course?
The UEERL0003 test and tag training Sunshine Coast course is for those that want to learn to properly test and tag electrical equipment. In this course, you’ll learn how to test and tag electrical equipment, as well as how to label equipment properly. You’ll become familiar with the different types of tags available and which ones are to be used in different situations. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to effectively test and tag any electrical equipment.
Outcomes of the Test and Tag Course Sunshine Coast
Upon completion of the UEERL0003 Test and Tag course Sunshine Coast, you will be qualified to perform basic electrical testing and tagging in accordance with the Australian Standards 3760 and 3012.ge
Course Prerequisites
There are no formal entry prerequisites for this course.
Nationally Accredited Course: UEERL0003 & UEECD0007
The assessment for UEERL0003 can only be taken once you have successfully completed the UEECD0007 Apply Work Health and Safety regulations, codes of practice in the workplace. It is also recommended that students taking both of these courses have basic numeracy skills and literacy, and arrive to their practical training wearing appropriate clothing (including closed-toed shoes). An LLN Quiz can be taken online before enrolling in this course.
Course Duration / Delivery
Nationally Accredited Course: UEERL0003 & UEECD0007
This course has 6 hours of self-paced online learning and one day of in-person training. Both of which cover the following units:
- UEECD0007 Apply work Health & Safety regulations, codes and practice in the workplace and;
- UEERL0003 Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies

This one-day course is delivered in person. In your training, you will learn about:
- Regulatory and legislative requirements
- Applicable standards and publications
- Basic principles of electricity and electrical circuits
- Basic construction and classes of electrical appliance including:
- Cords Plugs and Sockets 240V
- Cords Plugs and Sockets 415V
- Single and 3-phase appliance
- What is required to complete a visual inspection
- How to test and inspect:
- Single Phase 240V Equipment
- Residual Current Devices (RCD’s)
- The required documentation for testing and inspection
- How to use testing instruments including portable appliance testers (PAT’s)
This information is brought to you in a way that is easy to understand, and is interactive with a focus on hands-on learning. You’ll complete the course with the skills and confidence to test and tag on your own.

Units Of Competency
Nationally Accredited Course: UEERL0003 & UEECD0007
This course involves completing two core units of competency.
First, you’ll do the UEECD0007 Apply work Health & Safety regulations, codes and practice in the workplace. During this unit, you’ll learn about:
- How mandatory OHS requirements apply to electrotechnology work
- Your responsibilities regarding workplace health and safety
- Risk management processes at all operative levels
- How to adhere to safety practices while doing your work
After completing the first unit, you will be able to take the online theory for UEERL0003 Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies. This second unit is designed to give you all the information and skills you need to safely test electrical cord connected equipment and assemblies. During this unit, you’ll learn about:
- Working safely
- Types of appliances and their construction
- How to conduct a Visual Inspection of Portable Appliances
- Electrical Tests required for portable appliances such as earth continuity, insulation resistance, earth leakage, polarity and RCD testing.
- Using a portable apparatus tester
- Identifying faults on appliances and removing from service and applying an out of service tag, as required
- Applying tags to cords and portable appliances
- Arranging for faulty equipment to be repaired
- Filling out testing documentation for portable appliances and RCD’s
At the in-person component of the course, you will complete the practical training and assessments to ensure you can undertake the required tests on portable appliances to ensure they can be safely to used in the workplace.
