Cert II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems
Upon completion of our Cert II in Split Air Conditioning course, ARC will issue you with a federally-recognised licence. This licence allows you to install or decommission split system air conditioners. Licence holders must also check with their state or territory regulators to see if any further requirements apply to undertaking this work
The UEE20120 qualification is part of the ‘UEE’ electrotechnology training package developed by Skills Service Organisations. Students who have already completed training in the UEE package may be eligible for a credit transfer when undertaking this training program. This can reduce the volume of learning and the time required to achieve this qualification.
On successful completion of the Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems, students may continue their study and complete a Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning through an apprenticeship pathway. Get Skilled Training’s programs and team will help you achieve your career goals.
Course Information
The Cert 2 in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems is aimed at electricians and 3rd or 4th year electrical apprentices looking to expand their skills.
By completing Cert 2 training, you can become qualified to install and decommission split system air conditioners. Students can install and decommission split systems up to 18kWr. These are some of the most common appliances in Australia, so earning your qualification is an excellent way to grow your service offering.
Successful completion of the course leads to a qualification that leads to a licensed outcome with the Australian Refrigeration Council.
Students may only be able to work on single head split systems within the scope of the ARC licence and state or territory requirements. This includes wall-hung, ceiling, cassette and ducted fan coil air conditioning systems. Additionally, you will be equipped to install other types of single-head heat pump systems, such as heat pump water heaters.
Competencies for electrical work are not additional to this course – students must have an unrestricted electrical licence in their state or territory to undertake electrical work related to air conditioning installations.
Once you have completed this course, you can opt to extend your study. See our Career Pathways section below for more information.
